“And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days” (Joel 2:28-29). Jewish people will readily attribute this prophecy to Joel, about the years 800 BC. The Christian Church connects this prophecy to Peter, the Apostle.
This was the text Peter drew from on that very first Day of Pentecost, in which the Church was birthed (Acts 2:16ff). It is a great and rewarding study to see how many new things came into existence with the Holy Spirit’s involvement connected to each event.
The Holy Spirit was instrumental in the Creation; The Holy Spirit was the inspiration and designer and birther of the Tabernacle and all its furnishings (Ex. 28:3; 31:3); He was the architect and birther of the of the Great Temple, built by Solomon (1 Ch. 28:12); The Holy Spirit was involved in the conception of Jesus in Mary (Mt.1:20; Lk. 1:35); the Holy Spirit launched and sustained Jesus’ ministry (Lk. 3:22; 4:1,18). And it is the Holy Spirit that is responsible for us being born again (John 3:3, 5).
So, when the church is ready to be birthed, the Holy Spirit is right in the middle of it all (Acts 2:1-4)! Dear one, there is every evidence that God’s plan through the work of the Holy Spirit, is still engaged in all things being birthed and in many cases “rebirthed.” Absolutely nothing of what God put in play with Jesus Christ and the start of the New Covenant has been rescinded. The New Covenant and the “Last Days” started with Jesus, and when He ascended into Heaven, the Holy Spirit came powerfully into the world. He is it…until Jesus Christ returns.
Think about a Holy Spirit refreshing today!
