What is a person to do? Who do you believe these days? There has never been more inexhaustible information than there is today…and that’s a fact! All that information on everything has never been as accessible as it is now…instantly. One would think that’s good, huh?
Well, as logical as it may seem, having these endless rivers of information at our fingertips, has from my point of view, only created a tsunami of confusion. Rightly did Isaiah speak: “Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands afar off; for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. So truth fails, and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey” (Isa. 59:14-15). It is very messy out there because “believability” is at an all-time low.
The constitutional right of freedom of speech and press while cherished, can from its own abuse and lack of integrity, discredit itself from being listened to or heard at all…the same with the right and free exercise of religion. “Freedom” never means “do whatever you want.” Freedom will only survive where “the people” have a moral inner governor that practices and balances those freedoms, in law abiding ways. For the believer, that governor is the Holy Spirit.
Our Hero and the One who said “follow Me” is the One coming, who is “called Faithful and True… His name is called The Word of God” (Rev. 19:11, 13). In the current climate of conflicting lies and deception that abound in our world today, I am glad that I can anchor, me and my house, to the One whose Word is truth (Jn. 17:17).
And that’s no lie!
